Wybutosine은 phenylalanine tRNA에서 발견되는 고도로 변형된 guanosine으로, 리보솜 해독 중 코돈-안티코돈 상호작용을 안정화하여 읽기틀 유지에 기여합니다. 효모에서 이 유전자의 상동체는 wybutosine 합성에 필수적입니다. 인간 게놈에는 wybutosine 합성에 관여할 것으로 추정되는 두 개의 유사 유전자가 존재합니다. 일부 개인에서는 이 유전자좌의 ORF가 손상되어 진화 중인 가성유전자로 보이나, 일부에서는 기능을 유지할 가능성이 있습니다.
