This antibody detects endogenous levels of total GluR2/3.
Target Information
The mGluR proteins (metabotropic Glutamate Receptors) belong to the G-protein-coupled receptor family and are distinct from ionotropic Glutamate Receptors (GluR). Eight mGluR subtypes are known, mediated by two G-proteins with opposing regulation of adenylate cyclase pathways.
- mGluR1 and mGluR5 activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system and generate a calcium-activated chloride current.
- The remaining subtypes, including mGluR3, inhibit adenylate cyclase activity.
mGluR-3 may interact with GRASP and acts as a receptor for glutamate.
