Antibody detects endogenous levels of total FOLH1.
Target Information
This gene encodes a type II transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the M28 peptidase family.
The protein acts as a glutamate carboxypeptidase on different substrates, including folate and the neuropeptide N-acetyl-L-aspartyl-L-glutamate.
It is expressed in tissues such as prostate, central and peripheral nervous system, and kidney.
Mutations may cause impaired folate absorption and hyperhomocysteinemia.
In prostate cancer, the protein is upregulated and serves as a diagnostic and prognostic marker.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
