This antibody specifically recognizes Ebola virus EBOV (subtype Bundibugyo, strain Uganda 2007) VP40/Matrix protein VP40.
Target Information
Ebola virus is an enveloped, negative-stranded RNA virus belonging to the Filoviridae family. It has a distinctive morphology similar to Marburg virus but lacks antigenic similarity. The genome is a nonsegmented RNA strand encoding seven structural proteins:
- NP (104 kDa)
- GP (125 kDa)
- L protein (180 kDa)
- VP40 (40 kDa)
- ViPX (35 kDa)
- VP30 (30 kDa)
- VP24 (24 kDa)
GP is the major surface glycoprotein forming spikes on the viral envelope and is the only glycosylated viral protein.
