Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

A BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with human, rat, and mouse based on 100% sequence homology. Cross-reactivity with KAT II from other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

This gene encodes a protein highly similar to mouse and rat kynurenine aminotransferase II. The rat protein is a homodimer with two transaminase activities:

• Transamination of alpha-aminoadipic acid, a final step in the saccharopine pathway (major pathway for L-lysine catabolism)
• Transamination of kynurenine to produce kynurenine acid, precursor of kynurenic acid with neuroprotective properties

Two alternative transcripts encoding the same isoform have been identified; additional alternative transcripts and isoforms may exist.
