Target Information
CACNA1D, also known as PASNA, SANDD, or CaV1.3, encodes the alpha-1D subunit of voltage-dependent calcium channels. These channels mediate calcium ion entry into excitable cells and regulate processes such as muscle contraction, hormone or neurotransmitter release, and gene expression. The channel is a multisubunit complex composed of alpha-1, beta, alpha-2/delta, and gamma subunits. The alpha-1 subunit forms the pore and determines channel properties, while auxiliary subunits modulate activity. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms of this gene have been identified.
