This peptide corresponds to 16 amino acids near the amino terminus of human CIITA.
PEP-1145 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-21031.
Target Information
CIITA contains an acidic transcriptional activation domain, four leucine-rich repeats (LRRs), and a GTP binding domain. It is located in the nucleus and acts as a positive regulator of class II major histocompatibility complex (MHC II) gene transcription, often referred to as the "master control factor" for expression of these genes.
CIITA binds GTP and uses this binding to facilitate its own nuclear transport. Once in the nucleus, it does not bind DNA directly but acts through intrinsic acetyltransferase (AT) activity in a coactivator-like manner.
Mutations in this gene are associated with bare lymphocyte syndrome type II (hereditary MHC class II deficiency), increased susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and possibly myocardial infarction.
