Target Information
Myotilin is a cytoskeletal protein important for maintaining thin filament stability during muscle contraction. It binds F-actin, crosslinks actin filaments, and prevents filament disassembly. Mutations in the Myotilin gene are linked to limb-girdle muscular dystrophy and myofibrillar myopathies. Multiple alternatively spliced variants exist, though not all have been fully characterized.
