Target Information
This gene encodes a subunit of mitochondrial ATP synthase, which catalyzes ATP synthesis using the proton gradient across the inner membrane during oxidative phosphorylation. ATP synthase comprises two linked multi-subunit complexes:
- F1: Soluble catalytic core (α, β, γ, δ, ε subunits; stoichiometry 3α:3β:1γ:1δ:1ε)
- Fo: Membrane-spanning proton channel (a, b, c subunits)
This antibody targets the gamma subunit of the catalytic core. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. A pseudogene is present on chromosome 14.
