Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% as confirmed by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Acidic and basic fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) are multifunctional polypeptide growth factors that stimulate proliferation of cells of mesenchymal, epithelial, and neuroectodermal origin. FGFs act by binding and activating specific cell surface receptors. Six members of the FGF receptor family have been identified and cloned: FGFR-1 (Flg), FGFR-2 (BEK), FGFR-3, FGFR-4, FGFR-5, and FGFR-6.
FGFR-5 lacks the cytoplasmic kinase domain and is expressed in various tissues including kidney, brain, and lung, with preferential expression in pancreas, where it may regulate pancreatic function.
