Target Information
This gene encodes a protein belonging to the C2H2-type zinc finger subclass of the Gli family. These proteins act as DNA-binding transcription factors and mediate Sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling. The encoded protein localizes in the cytoplasm and activates patched Drosophila homolog (PTCH) gene expression. It also plays a role in embryogenesis. Mutations in this gene are associated with Greig cephalopolysyndactyly syndrome, Pallister-Hall syndrome, preaxial polydactyly type IV, and postaxial polydactyly types A1 and B.
