Target Information
This gene encodes two proteins:
- SART1 (nuclear form) expressed in proliferating cells
- SART1 (cytosolic form) expressed in epithelial cancers
The SART1 protein is translated by -1 frameshifting during posttranscriptional regulation. Both forms are involved in cell proliferation regulation and possess tumor-rejection antigens. The SART1 antigen can induce HLA-A2402-restricted cytotoxic T lymphocytes in cancer patients, making it potentially useful for cancer immunotherapy and diagnostic applications. SART1 is essential for recruitment of the tri-snRNP to the pre-spliceosome in spliceosome assembly.
