Target Information
The OTUB1 protein belongs to the OTU superfamily of predicted cysteine proteases. It functions as a highly specific ubiquitin iso-peptidase, cleaving ubiquitin from branched poly-ubiquitin chains but not from ubiquitinated substrates. OTUB1 interacts with other ubiquitin proteases and E3 ubiquitin ligases that regulate cytokine gene transcription in the immune system. It may play a role in specific ubiquitin-dependent pathways by editing polyubiquitin chain growth. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
