Target Information
This gene encodes a protein that is a component of the NuRD (nucleosome remodeling deacetylase) complex localized in the nucleus. It exhibits broad tissue expression and is involved in transcriptional regulation, possibly through chromatin remodeling. It is closely related to another family member associated with metastatic potential in carcinomas. Both proteins share multiple domains, including DNA-binding, dimerization, and methylation-related domains. One known target of this gene product is p53, whose deacetylation is linked to loss of growth inhibition in transformed cells, suggesting a role in metastasis.
