Target Information
The TMOD1 gene encodes a member of the tropomodulin family. The encoded protein acts as an actin-capping protein, regulating tropomyosin by binding to its N-terminus. This interaction inhibits depolymerization and elongation of the pointed end of actin filaments, influencing the structure of the erythrocyte membrane skeleton. Multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene.
