Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the importin-beta family, regulated by the GTPase Ran to mediate transport of cargo across the nuclear envelope. It mediates nuclear export of profilin-actin complexes. A pseudogene is located on chromosome 14 (long arm), and alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
