Target Information
GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase)는 해당과정(glycolysis)에 관여하는 촉매 효소로, 동일한 37 kDa 소단위체 4개로 구성된 사량체 형태로 존재합니다. GAPDH는 NADPH 존재하에 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate를 glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate로 환원시키는 반응을 촉매합니다.
이 효소는 해당과정 외에도 DNA 복제 및 수선, 핵 내 RNA 수출, 막 융합, 미세소관 결합 등 다양한 세포 기능에 관여하며, 세포사멸(apoptosis) 및 신경퇴행성 질환 관련 유전자 발현 조절에도 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
또한 GAPDH는 amyloid precursor protein 및 Huntingtin 단백질과 결합하여 알츠하이머병과 헌팅턴병 등 질환과의 연관성이 보고되었습니다. 대부분의 조직에서 높은 수준으로 발현되므로 Western blot 분석에서 단백질 로딩 컨트롤로 널리 사용됩니다.
