Target Information

Fis1 is a 17 kDa integral membrane protein and a key component of mitochondrial fission machinery.
It contains a central leucine-zipper domain, coiled-coil region, tetratricopeptide repeat domain, and a C-terminal transmembrane domain.
Fis1 acts as a pro-apoptotic factor and plays a vital role in mitochondrial fission regulation.
It interacts with DLP1 and Mdv1p, facilitating Dnm1p recruitment to the fission complex, thereby inducing apoptosis.
Fis1 also contributes to peroxisome growth and division. Loss of Fis1 inhibits apoptosis and results in mitochondrial elongation.
