Target Information
The coatomer is a cytosolic protein complex that binds to dilysine motifs and reversibly associates with Golgi non-clathrin-coated vesicles, mediating biosynthetic protein transport from the ER via the Golgi to the trans-Golgi network. The coatomer complex is essential for Golgi-to-ER retrograde transport of dilysine-tagged proteins and is recruited by membranes associated with ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs), small GTP-binding proteins. It also influences Golgi structural integrity, LDL receptor processing, and lipid homeostasis by regulating perilipin family members (PLIN2, PLIN3) and promoting adipocyte triglyceride lipase (PNPLA2) association with lipid droplets to mediate lipolysis.
