UBE1L (ubiquitin-like modifier-activating enzyme 7)은 C-말단 글라이신 잔기를 ATP로 아데닐화하여 유비퀴틴을 활성화한 후, E1의 시스테인 잔기 측쇄에 결합시킵니다. 이 과정은 ubiquitin-E1 thioester 및 자유 AMP를 생성합니다. 또한 UBE1L은 인플루엔자 A 바이러스 NS1 단백질의 ISGylation을 촉매합니다.
