This antibody recognizes and binds the SARS-CoV-2 C-terminal receptor binding domain (RBD) located in the extracellular portion of the spike protein.

Target Information

SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2), also known as 2019-nCoV, causes illnesses ranging from mild cold-like symptoms to severe respiratory distress and death.
The Spike (S) protein plays a critical role in viral attachment, fusion, and entry, serving as a key target for antibody development, entry inhibitors, and vaccines.
The receptor-binding domain (RBD, S-RBD) of the Spike protein binds strongly to human and bat ACE2 receptors, showing higher affinity than the SARS-CoV RBD.
S1 contains the RBD that specifically binds to ACE2 on target cells.
