PRMT5 (protein arginine N-methyltransferase 5)는 아르기닌 잔기의 대칭적 디메틸화(sDMA) 및 모노메틸화(MMA)를 촉매하는 효소로, Sm D1 및 Sm D3와 같은 작은 핵 리보핵단백질(snRNPs)의 메틸화에 관여합니다. 이러한 메틸화는 snRNP 핵심 입자의 조립과 생합성에 필수적입니다.
