Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa and isoelectric pH between 4.9–7.8.
Each cytokeratin subtype is expressed in specific epithelial types and correlates with the degree of maturation or differentiation. Cytokeratin expression patterns are widely used for distinguishing epithelial malignancies.
Cytokeratin antibodies assist in differential tumor diagnosis through immunohistochemistry, and are also valuable in cytopathology and flow cytometric assays.
