Target Information

This gene belongs to the GRB2-associated binding protein (GAB) family. GAB proteins contain a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain and interact with SHP2 tyrosine phosphatase and GRB2 adapter protein. They function as adapters transmitting signals from cytokine and growth factor receptors, as well as T- and B-cell antigen receptors. The encoded protein is a key activator of phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase in response to high-affinity IgE receptor activation. Two alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been identified.
