Target Information
The WNT gene family consists of structurally related genes encoding secreted signaling proteins involved in oncogenesis and developmental processes such as cell fate regulation and embryonic patterning.
WNT6 is overexpressed in cervical cancer cell lines and coexpressed with WNT10A in colorectal cancer cell lines, suggesting a role in carcinogenesis.
Both genes are located in the chromosome 2q35 region, and the encoded protein shares 97% amino acid identity with mouse Wnt6.
