Mouse anti-Human Lysozyme antibody, clone SB1 (BGN/06/961), recognizes lysozyme, an enzyme present in mucosal secretions such as saliva and tears, involved in non-specific organism defense.
Target Information
This gene encodes human lysozyme, an enzyme that hydrolyzes the β(1-4) glycosidic linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine in bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan.
Lysozyme is a key antimicrobial component found in human milk, and is also present in spleen, lung, kidney, white blood cells, plasma, saliva, and tears.
Missense mutations in the LYZ gene have been associated with heritable renal amyloidosis.
