Target Information
This gene encodes a homeobox-containing transcription factor that is homologous to the empty spiracles gene in Drosophila.
In humans, EMX2 is expressed in the dorsal telencephalon, olfactory neuroepithelium, and urogenital system.
It plays a role in neocortex patterning, mRNA transport or translation regulation, and epithelial tissue development.
Expression is negatively regulated by HOXA10, and alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants.
