Interleukin 6 receptor (IL6R), 또는 CD126으로도 알려진 단백질은 type I cytokine receptor 계열에 속합니다.
IL6R 유전자는 interleukin 6 (IL6) receptor complex의 한 서브유닛을 암호화하며, IL6은 세포 성장 및 분화 조절, 면역 반응 조절에 중요한 역할을 하는 pleiotropic cytokine입니다.
IL6 receptor는 IL6 signal transducer (IL6ST/GP130/IL6-beta)와 함께 복합체를 형성하며, 이 서브유닛은 다른 여러 cytokine과도 공유됩니다.
IL6 및 IL6 receptor의 조절 이상은 다발성 골수종, 자가면역질환, 전립선암 등의 발병과 관련이 있습니다.
또한, 서로 다른 isoform을 암호화하는 대체 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되었으며, 유사유전자가 염색체 9번에 존재합니다.
