배경 정보
The LATS1 gene encodes a serine/threonine kinase that localizes to the mitotic apparatus and complexes with CDC2 kinase in early mitosis. It is phosphorylated in a cell-cycle dependent manner, acting as a negative regulator of CDC2/cyclin A. The kinase domain binds to its own N-terminal region, suggesting intramolecular regulation. LATS1 functions as a tumor suppressor, supported by knockout mouse studies showing development of soft-tissue sarcomas and ovarian stromal cell tumors.
