The Mouse IFN beta Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures IFN beta protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits, allowing creation of custom multiplex panels utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation. When combining multiple Simplex kits, only one buffer kit (sold separately) is required per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on the principles of a sandwich ELISA, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of one protein to quantitate multiple targets simultaneously using a Luminex instrument. These assays require as little as 25 μL of plasma or serum, or 50 μL of cell culture supernatant, and provide analyzed results in about four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in a single small-volume sample from plasma, serum, or cell culture supernatants.

The Luminex beads used in ProcartaPlex assays are internally dyed with precise proportions of red and infrared fluorophores to create spectrally unique signatures identifiable by Luminex detection systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX). Similar to a sandwich ELISA, each bead is labeled with antibodies specific for a single target protein. Bound proteins are detected with biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE).

Unlike ELISA, the capture antibody in ProcartaPlex assays is conjugated to a bead rather than adsorbed to a microplate, allowing reagents to remain free-floating in solution. The Luminex instrument uses two lasers — one to identify each bead’s spectral signature and another to quantify RPE fluorescence, which is proportional to protein concentration.

ProcartaPlex multiplex assays can profile more targets using significantly less sample and time compared to traditional ELISA methods. Multiplex panels are available across six species: human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine.
