Target Information
FGFBP1 encodes a secreted fibroblast growth factor carrier protein. This protein plays a critical role in cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration by binding to fibroblast growth factors and enhancing their biological effects on target cells. It may also function as an angiogenic switch molecule involved in tumor growth, with expression linked to several cancers such as pancreatic and colorectal adenocarcinoma. A pseudogene of FGFBP1 is located on the short arm of chromosome 4.
