Product Specific Information

  • Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
  • The peptide is homologous in rat and guinea pig.
  • Specificity: AQP0.

Target Information

AQP0 is the most abundant endogenous protein in the plasma membrane of lens fiber cells. It functions as a water pore and plays a role in fiber-fiber adhesion, crucial for fiber cell structure and organization.
AQP0 has an additional pore constriction unique among aquaporins, possibly responsible for pore gating.
The closed AQP0 pore holds three water molecules spaced too far apart to form hydrogen bonds.
The C-terminal domain undergoes extensive post-translational modifications, including truncations during lens aging, which may contribute to cataract formation.
