JTB 단백질은 세포 분열 중 정상적인 세포질 분열을 위해 필요하며, 세포 증식 조절에 관여합니다. Chromosomal Passenger Complex (CPC)의 구성 요소로 작용하여 염색체 정렬 및 분리, 미세소관 안정화 및 방추체 형성에 필수적입니다. 또한 AURKB 활성을 증가시키고, TGFB1에 의해 유도된 세포사멸을 억제합니다. 과발현 시 미토콘드리아 팽창 및 막 전위 감소를 유발할 수 있습니다.
