Product Specific Information
Mouse anti-Pig CD172a, clone BL1H7, is specific for porcine CD172a, a member of the signal regulatory protein (SIRP) family. This antibody recognizes porcine CD172a (SIRPα), as described by Alvarez et al. (2000).
Target Information
SIRP alpha (CD172a, signal-regulatory protein alpha) is a receptor-type transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on myeloid-origin cells such as granulocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages, mast cells, and hematopoietic stem cells.
It acts as a substrate for several activated tyrosine kinases (e.g., EGFR, PDGFR, src, insulin receptor) and negatively regulates receptor tyrosine kinase-coupled signaling pathways.
Binding of SIRP alpha to CD47 induces phosphorylation of ITIM motifs and recruitment of SHP-1 and SHP-2 phosphatases, mediating inhibitory signaling.
This interaction regulates processes such as inhibition of macrophage phagocytosis and bidirectional activation of T cells and dendritic cells.
SIRP alpha influences responses to serum, growth factors, insulin, oncogenes, growth hormones, and cell adhesion, playing key roles in physiological and pathological processes.
Cancer cells often overexpress CD47, activating SIRP alpha and preventing macrophage-mediated clearance of tumor cells.
