IGF2BP2는 IGF-II mRNA-binding protein (IMP) 계열에 속하며, 표적 전사체를 세포질 단백질-RNA 복합체로 모집합니다. 이 단백질은 여러 KH 도메인과 두 개의 RRM 도메인을 포함하며, 인슐린 유사 성장 인자 2 (IGF2) mRNA의 5' UTR에 결합하여 IGF2 번역을 조절합니다. 다양한 전사적 스플라이스 변이체가 확인되었으며, 일부 간세포암 환자의 혈청에서 IGF2BP2에 대한 자가항체가 검출됩니다.
