Target Information
Blimp-1 (B lymphocyte maturation protein-1) is a nuclear protein containing five zinc fingers in its carboxy terminus. It acts as a transcriptional repressor required for terminal differentiation of B lymphocytes and monocyte/macrophages. Blimp-1 expression is also found in terminally differentiated epithelial cells, retinal neurons, and other cell lineages. It is implicated in repression of IFN-beta and c-myc gene expression.
