Target Information
Estrogen Receptor beta (ER beta, NR3A2)는 약 55 kDa의 단백질로, 36–59 kDa 범위의 다양한 isoform이 보고되었습니다. 인간 ER beta는 처음에 고환에서 클로닝 및 특성화되었습니다.
Estrogen Receptors (ER)는 스테로이드/갑상선 호르몬 수용체 초가족에 속하는 핵 수용체로, 에스트로겐 결합 시 전사 인자로 작용합니다. 에스트로겐 결합 후 수용체는 이합체화되어 DNA의 estrogen response elements (ERE)에 결합하며, 공동활성화자 또는 공동억제자 단백질을 모집하여 유전자 전사를 조절합니다.
ER에는 alpha(ESR1)와 beta(ESR2) 두 가지 형태가 있으며, ER beta는 ER alpha와 유사한 친화도로 에스트로겐을 결합합니다. 일부 ER beta isoform은 생식 조직에서 ER alpha의 활성을 억제할 수 있습니다. ER beta는 인체의 다양한 조직에서 광범위하게 발현되며, 종양 억제 인자로서 전립선암, 자폐 스펙트럼 장애, 갑상선 수질암, 드퀘르벵병, 심혈관 질환 위험 등 여러 질환에서 중요한 역할을 합니다.
