Target Information
Cytokeratin 18 (Keratin 18, KRT18, type I cytoskeletal 18)은 저분자량 케라틴의 산성(type A) 서브패밀리에 속하며, Cytokeratin 8과 함께 존재합니다. 위장관, 호흡기, 비뇨생식기, 내분비 및 외분비 조직, 중피세포 등에서 발현됩니다. 주로 비편평상피(non-squamous epithelia)에 존재하며, 대부분의 선암(adenocarcinomas)과 관암(ductal carcinomas)에서 발현되지만, 편평세포암(squamous cell carcinomas)에서는 발현되지 않습니다. 간세포암(hepatocellular carcinoma)은 Cytokeratin 8과 18만을 발현합니다. KRT18 유전자의 돌연변이는 cryptogenic cirrhosis와 연관되어 있습니다. KRT18 유전자는 동일 단백질을 암호화하는 두 가지 전사 변이체를 가집니다. Cytokeratin 아형 발현 패턴은 다양한 상피성 종양의 감별 진단에 활용되며, 면역조직화학, 세포병리학, 유세포분석 등에서 유용한 도구로 사용됩니다.
