HAUS6 is one of eight subunits of the 390-kDa human augmin complex (HAUS complex). The augmin complex, first identified in Drosophila, derives its name from the Latin verb augmentare, meaning "to increase." This microtubule-binding complex is involved in microtubule generation within the mitotic spindle and is essential for spindle assembly (Goshima et al., 2008; Uehara et al., 2009).
