이 단백질은 Ser/Thr protein kinase family에 속하며, p38 MAP kinase에 의해 직접 인산화되어 조절됩니다.
MAPKAPK2는 HSP27 단백질을 기질로 가지며, 두 가지 isoform을 암호화하는 transcript variants가 보고되어 있습니다.
