EIF2AK1 (HRI)는 다양한 환경적 스트레스에 반응하여 번역 개시 인자 eIF2-alpha의 Ser51을 인산화하는 4개의 키나아제 중 하나입니다. 낮은 heme 농도에서 신호가 시작되며, heme 존재 시 억제됩니다.
HRI 유전자는 7p22에 위치하며, JTV1 유전자와 3' 말단이 약간 겹칩니다. 두 유전자는 반대 방향으로 전사됩니다.
