Product Specific Information
The epitope recognized by this antibody is sensitive to formaldehyde fixation and tissue processing. Acetone fixation is recommended for frozen sections.
For FACS analysis, use 10 µL of the suggested working dilution to label 1×10^6 cells in 100 µL.
Mouse anti-canine CD21 antibody, clone CA2.1D6, recognizes canine CD21 (Complement receptor type 2), a cell surface antigen expressed by canine B lymphocytes.
Target Information
CD21 (complement receptor 2, CR2, C3D receptor, EBV receptor) binds C3 complement fragments that remain covalently attached to complement activating surfaces or antigens.
It plays key roles in:
- Uptake and retention of immunocomplexes
- Survival of memory B cells
- Development and maintenance of humoral response to T-dependent antigens
CD21 also serves as a receptor for Epstein-Barr virus, is involved in prion targeting to follicular dendritic cells, and aids neuroinvasion following peripheral exposure to prions.
A soluble form (sCD21) retains ligand-binding ability. CD21 interacts with CD23 and associates with CD19, CD81, and Leu13 to form a signal-transduction complex for B cell activation.
Genetic variations in CD21 are associated with systemic lupus erythematosus type 9 (SLEB9).
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
