Target Information

As a component of the LINC (LInker of Nucleoskeleton and Cytoskeleton) complex, SYNE3 is involved in connecting the nuclear lamina and the cytoskeleton. These nucleocytoplasmic interactions are important for mechanical force transmission across the nuclear envelope and for nuclear movement and positioning.
SYNE3 likely acts as an anchoring protein that tethers the nucleus to the cytoskeleton by binding PLEC, which associates with the intermediate filament system.
It plays a role in regulating aortic epithelial cell morphology and is required for flow-induced centrosome polarization and directional migration in aortic endothelial cells.
