This antibody detects endogenous levels of total FAR2 protein.
Target Information
The FAR2 gene encodes a reductase enzyme belonging to the short chain dehydrogenase/reductase superfamily. It is involved in the first step of wax biosynthesis, converting fatty acids into fatty alcohols. The protein is peroxisomal and prefers saturated fatty acids with 16 or 18 carbons as substrates. Alternatively spliced transcript variants and related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 2, 14, and 22.
