This antibody detects endogenous levels of total TRP2/DCT.
Target Information
The TYR-related proteins, TRP1 and TRP2, are specifically expressed in melanocytes and contribute to melanin synthesis within melanosomes. These proteins share a similar transmembrane region, contain two metal-binding regions and a cysteine-rich EGF motif, and are localized in the melanosomal membrane. Each protein has distinct catalytic activity and collectively contributes to melanin biosynthesis. TRPs are believed to form a multi-enzyme complex, with TRP1 stabilizing TYR in melanocytes.
