Target Information
The superfamily of high molecular weight serine proteinase inhibitors includes SERPINB8, also known as Protease inhibitor-8 (PI8). This protein is part of the ov-serpin subfamily, which shows high homology to chicken ovalbumin. It lacks N- and C-terminal extensions, a signal peptide, and contains a serine residue at the penultimate position instead of asparagine. The reactive center loop connects beta sheets A and C, playing a critical role in protease inhibition.
