This antibody detects endogenous levels of total ITGB2/CD18.
Target Information
CD18 integrin beta 2 subunit is a 90 kDa type I transmembrane protein expressed on all leukocytes. It forms heterodimers with CD11 molecules (CD11a–d) to create β2 integrins, including:
- αLβ2 (CD11a/CD18, LFA-1)
- αMβ2 (CD11b/CD18, Mac-1, CR3)
- αXβ2 (CD11c/CD18)
- αDβ2 (CD11d/CD18)
These integrins mediate cell adhesion and signaling, essential for leukocyte migration and intercellular interactions. Deficiency or malfunction of CD18 leads to leukocyte adhesion deficiency type I (LAD1) and can cause immune dysfunction and skin disorders. CD18 is also a target of Mannheimia haemolytica leukotoxin, mediating cytolysis.
