Target Information
Galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins involved in cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. LGALS3BP levels are elevated in cancer and HIV-infected patients. It is implicated in immune responses associated with NK and LAK cell cytotoxicity. The full-length 90K cDNA is localized to chromosome 17q25. The native protein binds to macrophage-associated lectin Mac-2 and galectin 1.
