Target Information
RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical kinase catalytic domains that phosphorylates multiple residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. It is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and plays a crucial role in growth factor-regulated cell proliferation, motility, immune response, and tissue repair. Acting downstream of PI3-kinase, its main physiological target is the S6 ribosomal protein, which mediates upregulation of protein synthesis. Overexpression and DNA amplification of p70 S6 kinase are observed in certain breast cancer cell lines.
