Target Information
VE-cadherin is a member of the cadherin superfamily located in a six-cadherin cluster on chromosome 16. It encodes a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. VE-cadherin functions as a classic cadherin, mediating homophilic cell adhesion and playing a critical role in endothelial cell cohesion and junction organization. An alternative splice variant has been described, but the full-length sequence has not been determined.
